A full sleeve is planned as one design and tattooed over several sessions, with healing time in between. With a famous tattoo artist, pricing is usually hourly, a booking fee holds each session, and the real key is design consistency from shoulder to wrist. Because skilled artists book ahead, the best time to start planning is well before you want to begin.

At Tim Lease Tattoos, we work out of Golden Tarot Ink Club on Howell Branch Road in Winter Park. To talk through your sleeve, reach out to our studio or call 407-725-7072.

How is a full sleeve broken into sessions?

A sleeve is designed as one connected piece, then tattooed section by section across multiple sittings. Splitting the work keeps each session manageable for your skin and your comfort.

Most artists start by establishing the overall layout, then build out sections over time, adding detail, shading, and background as the piece comes together. At our studio, larger tattoos can be split into multiple sessions, and you can book your next sitting at the end of each one.

Session length depends on the design and on you. Longer sittings, such as six or eight hour sessions, move a big piece along faster. Shorter sessions can be easier if you are new to long appointments.

Tim draws designs digitally for each client. He takes a photo of your arm at the appointment and draws the tattoo to fit your body. For large pieces, drawing may happen the morning of or the evening before, so the design flows naturally with the shape of your arm.

How do hourly pricing and deposits work for a sleeve?

Large pieces are priced by the hour, and each session is held with a booking fee. Our hourly rate is $250, so an eight-hour session comes to $2,000 before the booking fee is applied.

Booking fees range from $100 to $400, with higher fees for six and eight hour sessions. The fee is non-refundable but goes toward your tattoo. It is forfeited if you reschedule, cancel, or do not show, with no exceptions, so plan your dates carefully.

Online deposits are paid through PayPal. In-person deposits and session totals are cash only, and there is an ATM in the studio that accepts major debit cards.

The total cost of a sleeve depends on its size, detail, and how many hours it takes. Budgeting session by session makes a big project easier to manage, and it gives you a clear picture of where you are in the process. A free in-person or Zoom consultation is the best place to talk through expectations.

How much healing time do you need between sleeve sessions?

Each section needs to heal before the next session works on or near it. Healing time varies by person and by how much work was done, and your artist will tell you when your skin is ready.

Rushing back too soon can irritate skin that is still recovering and affect how the ink settles. Waiting the right amount of time protects the work you have already paid for.

Florida life adds a few considerations. Winter Park summers are hot, and days out on the Chain of Lakes or by the pool mean sun and water exposure. Fresh tattoos need protection from both, so plan sessions around vacations, beach trips, and boating weekends.

Free aftercare is included with all of Tim's tattoos, and we use Saniderm to help protect fresh work during healing. Good aftercare between sessions keeps your skin in the best shape for the next sitting. Read more on our tattoo aftercare page.

Why does a sleeve need an experienced artist for design consistency?

Because a sleeve is not a collection of separate tattoos. It is one artwork that wraps around a moving, curved surface, and every section has to flow into the next.

Line weight, shading, spacing, and style need to stay consistent across many hours of work, often over months. An experienced artist plans for that from the start, so the finished sleeve reads as a single piece instead of a patchwork.

One of our clients wanted a sleeve that showed all the places he had lived. He brought pictures of buildings, street signs, and a wildflower his mother used to grow.

Before we talked about sessions or healing breaks, we talked about flow, and how to bring every detail into one design that felt connected.

Tim holds a Master's Degree in Fine Arts and is internationally known for blackwork, mandalas, and custom work. He also handles cover-ups, which matter when a sleeve has to work around existing tattoos. You can book a cover-up or custom consultation online.

How do you secure a spot for your sleeve?

Start the conversation early. Sought-after artists often book well in advance, and a sleeve needs several sessions spaced over time, so planning ahead makes it easier to get the dates you want.

Look through recent work first to make sure the style fits your vision. Then gather your references and ideas, and book a free consultation in person or over Zoom. From there, you can reserve your first session and plan the rest.

Choosing a famous tattoo artist for a sleeve is about more than a name. It is about trusting one experienced hand with a piece you will wear for life, from the first outline to the final session.

Our hours are 12 pm to 10 pm, with Wednesdays and Sundays by appointment only. Browse our tattoo portfolio to see recent pieces.
